TRP 525 COBBLER Recipe

 

Ingredients

4 CANS OF FRUIT (APPLE PIE FILLING AND PEACH ARE OUR FAVORITES), 3 BOXES OF PLAIN CAKE MIX, 2 BOXES OF INSTANT PUDDING (FRENCH VANILLA) 1 12OZ CAN OF SPRITE OR 7-UP

LARGE (12 TO 16 QT) DUTCH OVEN, CHARCOAL  

Instructions

PRE HEAT DUTCH OVEN TO JUST ABOVE THE POINT WHERE YOU CAN CONFORTABLY TOUCH IT, PUT IN 2 BOXES OF CAKE MIX (SPREAD OUT EVENLY ON THE BOTTOM), PUT IN ALL OF THE PIE FILLING (SPREADING OUT EVENLY OVER THE CAKE MIX), PUT IN THE REMAINING CAKE MIX IN A RING AROUND THE EDGE, PUT THE PUDDING MIX IN THE MIDDLE (EVENLY SPREADING OUT BOTH BOXES), POUR THE SPRITE/7-UP IN EVENLY AROUND THE WHOLE MESS. PLACE APPROXIMATELY 20 COALS UNDER THE DUTCH OVEN, AND 12 TO 15 ON TOP. LET COOK UNTIL THE PUDDING MIXES BROWN UP NICELY

CommentTHIS DESSERT HAS BEEN MADE ON EVERY BASE CAMP THAT WE HAVE BEEN AT FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, AND HAS BEEN DEVOURED EVERY TIME. OTHER TROOPS HAVE ENJOYED OUR COBBLER AT SPRING CAMPOREES AND BOXWELL. HOPE THAT YOUR'S TURNS OUT AS GOOD AS OURS DOES. THERE IS A LITTLE OF EXPERMENTING TO DO, BUT ONCE THAT YOU GET IT DOWN, O BOY!!!
