Ingredients
Blueberries-3 cups fresh or 3 cans, rinsed/drained
Sugar-1 cup
Grands Biscuits-1 can
Water- variable
Equipment
Dutch Oven, lid lifter
Instructions
Prepare coals. Grease Dutch Oven including inside of lid. Pour in blueberries and sugar. Add water, enough to just cover the berries and sugar.Stir. Separate biscuits and cut each into 3rds or 4ths. Place on top of berries and place on coals. Lightly cover the lid with coals. Let sit for about 30 minutes depending on how hot your fire is. When the biscuits start to brown, stir them in. Your neighbors may come see what smells so good at this point. Remove from fire and let sit for 5-10 more minutes. Serve hot, with "kick the can" Ice cream or for breakfast the next day during cooler weather.
CommentAny fruit can be substituted, adjust sugar for sweetness.Peaches need half the sugar. Apples need more sugar, substitute apple juice for water and grease VERY well.
For easy clean up, line oven insides with tin foil.
