K-9 Officer Kennel
Service Project

Service Project Description

Our Town has a trained police dog who rides along with a police officer. He lives in a large kennel building which can also house 7 other animals, each with their own pen and run. Strays picked up locally are held there while the owner is located. I power-washed, repaired, primed and painted the cinderblock walls, wood trim, door and metal fencing. Project took 292 recorded hours and 19 particpants over 3 1/2 weeks. I also raised money before-hand by selling petunias in my neighborhood. This project save the town over $1200 in supplies and whatever the labor would have cost. It was a good experience for me to have to show leadership and motivate scounts on hot, sunny days.
