Service Project Description
Worked through the local fire department and canvased an area of off-campus housing for UVa that happened to be the area of the last fire death in the city.
Took a survey of residentual units that consited of three questions:
-Do you have a smoke detector?
-Does it work?
-If you answer no to either question, would you like to get a free detector from the fire department?
Planned on collecting any information for anyone needing a free detector and possibly reporting a violation of the fire code for no detector in rented units. Fortunatly, every place visted had one. The statitics were reported to the fire department.
