Patrick is the son of Gary Woods of Blue Springs and John & Dana Straka of Holden. He was born on June 29,1985 in Warrensburg, Missouri. On May 7th 1997 he became active in scouting by joining troop 403 in Holden, Missouri. He later became one of the founders of troop 304, in order to ensure options for the scouts of Holden as to which direction they wanted to take in their scouting careers. He has served as scribe, quartermaster, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and troop guide. Patrick has earned 29 merit badges and has helped the community through scouting for food, the octagon club, and assisting others in the completion of their service projects. Patrick has been involved with the Holden Fire and Rescue Department and Western Johnson County Fire District #2 since 1998 and in 2000 he helped found the Holden Fire-Rescue Explorer post 51 for which he is currently serving in the rank of Explorer Captain. He is also currently working on establishing an explorer post for the Holden Police Department. In scouting Patrick has received many awards and honors including: the twelve month camper award and being elected as a permanent patrol leader while attending Brownsea 22 Junior Leadership Training. He has attended H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation 3 years and is currently a foxmen. For an Eagle project, Patrick painted the main interior room of the Hallar Community building in Holden. This benefited both the city and its citizens. Patrick has attended the Holden R-3 School District his whole life and is currently as senior at Holden High School. Patrick Recently attended the 63rd session of American Legion Missouri Boys State where he was a candidate for the office of Lt. Governor. He has served as class president all four years of high school and his future plans include attending either CMSU or the University of Missouri- Columbia to pursue either a criminal justice or political science degree and eventually be employed as a Special Agent with the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He may also one day run for public office.
