Captain Patrick B. Monahan is a Senior Maintenance Officer assigned to the 4th Space Control Squadron as the Senior Squadron Maintenance Officer, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Captain Monahan attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a minor in English. After graduation he attended field training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and was commissioned into the United States Air Force in August 1995. Following his commissioning, he reported to Vandenberg Air Force Base, California for missile maintenance officer training. Captain Monahan performed missile maintenance officer duties on the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, from 1996 until 1999. He transitioned to space launch maintenance in 1999 where he provided direct maintenance support to the Titan & Atlas rocket programs and oversaw the coastal security program at the Range Operations Control Center until 2002. Captain Monahan broadened his duties once again by assuming his present maintenance role within space control in August 2002. His high energy and attention to detail were directly responsible for the global war on terrorism successes of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM through superb communications maintenance management. Captain Monahan is an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and an ardent supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. His military awards include the Meritorious Unit Award, the Military Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf cluster. Captain Monahan graduated from Squadron Officer School (in-residence) in February 2005 and he attends the American Military University, where he has earned a Masters of Arts Degree in Naval Warfare: International Studies; and he is working towards a Masters of Business Administration. He is married, has one daughter, and another child due in the Fall of 2005.
