Mitchell Paige, Eagle Scout

Year Earned1936

Bio / AccomplishmentsMitchell paige was an extrodinary man. he never quite received his Eagle Scout award on time. it took 67 years and the tireless efforts of a fellow Eagle Scout and FBI Agent to correct this oversight.

In the meantime, Mitchell Paige enlisted in the Marine Corps, was awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism on Guadalcanal (1942). He retired as a full Colonel.

In 2003, 67 years after receiving his Eagle Award, Mitchell Paige stated that from that point on, he would only wear two medals in public - the Medal of Honor and his Eagle Scout medal. He also said that he believed them to be on a par. One you receive for fighting for your country. The other for learning to be a responsible and good citizen.
