TitleWheel hub contact area
CategorySpeed Tips
CommentOur pack does not allow coning of the hub to reduce the friction area. Most of you know not to have paint where the axle goes into the body and to coat that area with graphite (tip 46) What I do to reduce the surface area is to use a razor knife on the cross section where the axle inserts and cut away excess wood so there is about a 1/16 line where the wheel hub contacts, then coat it with graphite. It reduces over half the surface area. you dont have to take away to much wood, just enough to eliminate the contact area.
