CommentWe hold a car building Workshop a few weeks before the Pinewood Derby race.
It is usually held after den meeting or in place of den meeting.
Any Cub Scouts who want to can bring their block of wood to the workshop. We have pencils for them to sketch their design onto the pinewood block, and we have someone there with a bandsaw or scrollsaw to cut out the designs for the boys.
We also have sandpaper and paint available if they want to paint.
Some boys do this with their fathers at home, but many boys need the help (not all Dads are carpenters, in spite of what they might think... :)
