Daniel Jewett earned his Eagle Award as a member of Foster City California's Troop 175. His project was to enhance and improve an aging trail running along the bay as part of Foster City's coastal wetlands. Many people overlook the environmental importance of the wetlands and, for this reason, Jewett produced an informative brochure and self-guided tour of the area. Brochures were available at the head of the trail and highlighted key-features marked by numbered sign posts. The Troop produced a record number of Eagle Scouts during Jewett's time and many went on to do great things. Jewett still counts these scouts among his oldest and strongest friends. Fifty-mile backpacking trips were the highlight of the year for this active Troop and Jewett never missed a trip. Today Jewett has had success in many fields, working as an IT Manager for a major corporation, a journalist and editor for a weekly newspaper and even as a musician, writing the hit song "Round Here" performed by the Counting Crows. Without a doubt, the skills learned in Boy Scouting have translated into success and good living throughout Jewett's life.
